I see myself as an educator that doesn’t stand in front of the room talking to a class of quiet students. I see my role as that of a guide or navigator to assist my students in their multitude of varied educational journeys. It is my job to be constantly adapting and changing to meet the needs of my current years’ students as well as incorporating things that I have learned. My classroom will look very different from year to year as my students will be very different each year as well.
My philosophy for incorporating physical education into my classroom is that of an integrated approach. Physical education shouldn’t be a class we do a couple of times a week in isolation but a daily life-long pursuit. It is my challenge to foster a positive atmosphere around what physical education really is and how it affects our students in so many different ways. Focussing not only on the physical skills but also health and nutrition as well as their effect on mental health is important.
